EDUCATIONAL MEETINGS

We meet once a month for our educational meetings.  The meetings are at
Dunwoody United Methodist Church, 1548 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, on the fourth Monday of each month in Room 258.

Come at 7PM and enjoy refreshments and meet new friends.  Our meetings start promptly at 730PM.

The purpose of these meetings is to have speakers knowledgeable about mental health issues that will help us help our family members.

In recent months we have had speakers with topics on:

Jail Diversion
Suicide Prevention
Social Security Disability, Medicare, Medicaid
What happens after we’re gone; Special Needs Trusts, Guardianships, etc.
Crisis Intervention Team
A psychiatrist talking about the latest medications and side effects

Our next educational meeting is Monday, April 28. Our speaker will be
Sally Atwell, M.S., CRC, LPC , the Project Director of Benefits Navigator at Shepherd Spinal Center. Sally will speak about “How to Get and Keep Social Security Benefits.  This is vital information and hopefully you will attend.

We feel these meetings are interesting and helpful.  If you are interested in a particular subject, please let Roslyn Grossman, rrgrossman@bellsouth.net , our educational director know. We want to have speakers who are advocates and can help us understand more on mental illness and ways to improve our loved ones life.
